The Basic Navigation and Safety Course is an excellent introduction to Navigation and Sea Safety for anyone intending to go afloat on the sea (for example dinghy sailors, anglers, powerboaters, divers and keelboaters). This 16 hour course focuses on basic awareness and knowledge of simple navigation techniques rather than detailed understanding. Topics include Charts & Publications, buoyage, tidal awareness, electronic navigation, pilotage, weather forecasts, passage planning and engine checks. The course is recommended for anyone intending to go to sea or taking an RYA Instructor qualification. The course fee includes more than £60 of mandatory navigation equipment which you keep after the course.
